About

Beaufort Books

Beaufort Books is an independent publisher based in New York City. Beaufort publishes a mix of non-fiction and fiction titles, with about 15–20 new titles each year. Beaufort has published four New York Times bestsellers since 2007: If I Did It by the Goldman Family, Hide!!! by Jeff Foxworthy, The Comeback by Consumer Electronics Association President Gary Shapiro, and One Nation Under Taught by Dr. Vince M. Bertram.

Beaufort favors a collaborative process in which the publisher and the author work together to create a beautiful book and design unique publicity, marketing, and sales plans that makes sense for each individual book.

Beaufort Books has two imprints: Moyer Bell and its subsidiaries and Papier-Mache Press.

The Team

Eric M. Kampmann – Publisher

Eric Kampmann has worked in book publishing since 1970 at Viking, St. Martin’s, then Simon & Schuster. He has worked with independent publishers since 1981. Eric is the founder of Midpoint Trade Books, a sales and distribution company for independent publishers. Eric has also taught book publishing courses at Harvard, Columbia, Hofstra, and NYU. Eric has owned Beaufort Books since the 1980s.

Emma St. John – Director of Sales and Marketing

Emma first served as an intern for Beaufort Books in the Spring of 2022, before joining the team full-time as the Publicity and Editorial Associate. Prior, she graduated with a Master’s degree in Book Publishing from Portland State University, where she worked as the Publicity Manager at Ooligan Press, the student-run trade press on campus. If Emma isn’t outside reading, you can probably find her inside binge-watching tv shows, petting dogs, or geeking out over Harry Potter.
